Green way of Calavon

Cycling from Lisbon to Athens: the Mediterranean European Cycle route … via the Vaucluse. In partnership with the Luberon natural regional Park, the Conseil Général de Vaucluse launched the creation of the Calavon cycle route in 2004. This event which was to give our territory the opportunity of becoming an unavoidable link in this splendid project in our Vaucluse department which has opened the way to an alternative form of transport, the bicycle, known in French for a long time as the « little Queen », and which has now become « the King ».

With creation under way of the Via Venaissia and the Via Rhôna, the Calavon cycle route and its 28 km open to cyclists is already a major structuring development for cycling activity in this territory. Delivery of the future sections towards Cavaillon and beyond in the direction of Avignon are being accelerated, motivated not only by the growing attendance of cycling tourists observed but also by the inhabitants of the territory who have made the judicious choice of this form of transport for their daily or family leisure use.

The neighbouring local authorities in the Alpes de Haute-Provence are now announcing their firm intention of extending this cycle route as far as the Var thus confirming with each « link » the coherence of this effort of creation devoted to alternative transport.

The happy cyclists and pedestrians on these few kilometres of the Calvon cycle route announce the recognition of your aspirations. Your green way has been opened with the Calavon cycle route… enjoy it.
